1.1.13 24 October 2026
New features
- Menus: hovering “Panel 2” in a drive's menu, or “Copy”, “Move”, “Compress” towards a panel in the right-click menu, outlines that panel on screen, as the dialog asking for the destination already did.
- Search: the search bar at the bottom of the panel is split in two — the name on the left, the content on the right. Searching for text inside files no longer means opening the criteria dialog, and either field is enough. A handle between the two sets their share, and is remembered. The content field only appears where there are files: disks, network drives, FTP, SSH — not in processes, a database or services.
Fixes
- Extraction: extracting a large archive no longer freezes the application. Decompression runs separately, and progress, pause and queuing respond throughout. A large ZIP is no longer loaded whole into memory: only the file being extracted is.
- Archives: copying a large file out of an archive opened in the panel no longer freezes the application. It is decompressed separately, as a stream: a 1.7 GB log came out with a four-second freeze and 3 GB of memory; it now comes out with no visible freeze and four times less memory. “Decompress” benefits too.
- Memory: a zip opened in the panel was read in full and stayed in memory while you browsed it — a 517 MB zip made the application weigh nearly 900 MB. Only its catalog is read now: 2 MB instead of 555, and it opens ten times faster. The file is no longer held open, and can be moved or deleted while you browse it.
- Content search: a file larger than 4 MB was not read, and a 2 GB log answered “nothing” for text that was really there. It is now read in chunks up to the first match, and the search is about three times faster. Only a large binary file — disk image, video — is still skipped.
- Content search: cancelling it stops it at once. An interrupted read counted as “not found”, and the search still opened each of the following files in the folder before stopping.
- Android: settings were only written once every ten minutes, and Android closes an app sent to the background without warning. The chosen layout — two panels, for instance — was lost, and the app reopened on the previous one. They are now written as soon as the app goes to the background.
- Places bar: the three dots next to the modules, and the quick-access icon, stay visible even when everything fits. “Edit the modules…” and “Edit the quick access…” could only be reached on a bar that was too narrow.
- Sorting: sorting a column keeps the cursor row selected and brings it back into view. It stayed selected, but ended up anywhere in the list — often off screen, in processes as well as in files.
